Christmas Horse Treats

Christmas is the time of year when we love to make homemade treats for ourselves, friends, and family. What about our horses though? We don’t want our horses to miss out on this special time of year! Check out these Christmas horse treats you can purchase, or make some yourself!


DIY Treat Recipes


Horse and Dog Gingerbread Treats

This is a very easy recipe that takes little time to make. The best part is, it’s safe for both horses and dogs! I made these gingerbread treats for my horse, and she loves them! My horse is a picky eater, but she will eat these. People could also eat these, but they might not taste so great. You can find the recipe here.


SmartPak’s Easy Holiday Horse Treats

These decorated treats are not only festive, but your horse will love them. SmartPak shares this recipe with only 5 ingredients!


Ingredients:

2 cups of whole wheat flour

1 very ripe banana

2/3 cup molasses

1 cup shredded carrots

2 cups of rolled oats


Directions:

Step 1: Preheat oven to 375 degrees

Step 2: Put parchment paper on a cookie sheet

Step 3: Mix ingredients together. Roll out and use cookie cutters to cut any shape you want.

Step 4: Bake for 10 minutes

Step 5: Store in an airtight container and feed them to your horse!

DIY Horse Treat Baking Kit

Peppermint Present Cookies

These cookies are easy to make and your horse will love them! 


Ingredients:

1 cup of old-fashioned oats

1 cup of whole wheat flour

1/2 cup of shredded carrots

1/3 cup of molasses

1 small, ripe banana

peppermints


Directions:

Step 1: Preheat oven to 375 degrees (F)

Step 2: Combine all of the ingredients except peppermints in a large bowl, mix well.

Step 3: To make the cookies, spoon the mixed ingredients into balls and place evenly on an un-greased baking sheet.

Step 4: Bake for 10 minutes

Step 5: With the cookies still warm, place a peppermint in the center.

Step 6: Allow the cookies to cool and then feed to your horse!
