It's time to recognize and appreciate the hard work and dedication of your farrier! National Farriers Week, held July 6–12, was launched by American Farriers Journal to honor the vital role farriers play in maintaining healthy hooves. It has become an annual tradition in the equine community to celebrate these skilled professionals.

Without farriers, our horses wouldn’t have the strong, balanced foundation they need. Despite their essential role, farriers are often under appreciated. So the next time you see your farrier, be sure to thank them for all they do. Horse owners—don’t take your farrier for granted!

Want to show your appreciation? Here are a few simple ways to support your farrier:

  • Provide a clean, level, and well-lit area to work in

  • Have your horse groomed and ready before the appointment

  • Be present to help handle your horse if needed

  • Keep a consistent, routine schedule for visits

  • Work with your horse so they're comfortable having their feet handled

  • Practice good hoof care between appointments

  • Listen to—and follow—your farrier’s advice

Let’s take this week to show our farriers the respect and gratitude they deserve!
